STOOL. Henry van de Velde Label

— 2014
Stool 6

STOOL is part of the many interiors and furniture designed for arts campus deSingel since 2008, all starting from the architecture of the building itself, designed by Léon Stynen. The space is built up around perspectives and compositions of golden section proportions.

The design of STOOL falls back on the archetype of the milking stool, which is part of the collective memory. STOOL captures this historical form in a new interpretation. The oak seat assumes a typical two-dimensional directionality by extruding a slightly curved profile. This gives STOOL a distinctly stubborn frontal character. In the other direction, STOOL can be transformed into a bench.

STOOL received the Henry van de Velde Award in 2014 and is now part of the DRISAG collection.
